Ever found a great recipe only to discover you are missing one item? Well in my case the item wasn’t an ingredient, but a food scale. Yes that gadget would’ve been very helpful while preparing a delicious Fig & Anise ice cream by Deborah Madison.
The recipe calls for 1 1/2 pounds of figs. Well, so I thought I could guesstimate – I generally use 5 pound weights (or a 3 and a 2 if the 5′s aren’t available) so I did and the recipe turned out just fine. Not only was it fine, it was the most incredible ice cream I’ve ever had. Being dairy-free (mostly) this certainly was an exceptional treat.
So while I fared well in winging it (with the guesstimated weight in figs), I really could have used a food scale. And lucky for you that food scale could be yours for recipes such as this and more!

My youngest daughter was tested allergic to wheat, rye, rice, barley, maize, oats, soy, milk, eggs, watermelon, tomato, olives, and when we cut that out of our diet we both lost weight and centimeters.
I am trying to keep track of everything that I eat and drink so I can truly be accountable for my weight.
Hi! Hmm… a personal challenge I am doing is to take a walk everytime I get a craving. it usually works because it goes away after 10 or so minutes.
Try one group fitness class per week at your local gym. I learned that I love Zumba and kickboxing this way!
For one week, try to avoid any processed foods and if you need to eat something processed, try choosing something that has five or fewer ingredients. Notice any changes in how you feel or how your wallet feels!
Great advice!
A good little challenge to geting veggies in right after waking up is tossing some in a smoothie with frui to get a boost. As well, when we have a bad craving toss in 20 lunges for a reminder of what you were hoping to gain this week=) xoxo

I’m trying to make sure I exercise at least a little bit every day. If I can’t get to yoga or zumba, I take a little walk.
I try to mix in some good fat (i.e. nuts, avocado, olives) when eating “bad” fats or carbs (ice cream, pasta dish, etc.). Try to throw in good fats whenever to counterbalance a “not so good day”

Cook everything from scratch (unless it is mostly natural and organic) for at least one week out of every month and increasing as much as you can.
Focus on heart-healthy whole nutrients, like magnesium via brown rice and iron via spinach instead of taking supplements. Focus on lowering white carb intake to avoid spiking heartrate. These small changes should lead to greater heart health.
